Ayant grandi dans une petite ville majoritairement francophone de Rouyn-Noranda au nord-ouest de Montréal, Zach Zoya a développé un palais musical diversifié venant de sa famille. Initié à la musique africaine par son père sud-africain qui a fui au Canada pendant l'apartheid, et à la musique soul et pop nord-américaine par sa mère canadienne-française, Zoya a été immergé dans des rythmes et des mélodies qui lui parlaient même lorsque les paroles en anglais ne le faisaient pas. Bien que le français soit à la fois la langue maternelle de Zoya et la plus établie sur la scène musicale montréalaise, il rappe en anglais depuis le début de sa carrière. Élevé sans ordinateur ni télévision dans un endroit où la culture hip-hop est minimale, Zoya a d'abord affiné son son en couvrant des chansons de Kendrick Lamar et Drake, et attribue l'apprentissage de l'art du rap à l'amélioration de sa prestation en tant que chanteur polyvalent.
En 2019, il a signé avec la plus grande compagnie de disque du Canada, Universal Music Canada, et a commencé à collaborer avec certains des plus grands producteurs du pays pour son premier EP, notamment Boi-1da, lauréat du prix GRAMMY, DTRWRK, nominé aux GRAMMYs, les nominés aux prix Latin GRAMMY et les producteurs multi-platine Banx & Ranx, Matthew Burnett, lauréat d'un prix JUNO, le producteur multi-platine Don Mills (J Cole, Giveon, Juice WRLD) et bien d'autres. Sorti acclamé par la critique, Spectrum a placé Zach sur des listes convoitées de ceux à surveiller et des meilleurs et lui a valu plusieurs nominations, dont les Berlin Music Video Awards 2021 et le prix ADISQ 2021 pour la collaboration internationale de l'année avec l'artiste/producteur britannique Angel pour le single « Patience ».
Depuis la sortie de son deuxième EP No Love Is Ever Wasted en juin dernier, Zach Zoya a accumulé des millions d’écoutes et a décroché deux succès radio consécutifs dans le Top 40 avec ses singles "Start Over" feat. Benny Adam étant en 8e position et l'exploit "Upper Hand" feat. Soran grimpe actuellement au #22. Il a été couronné YouTube Trending Artist on the Rise et a reçu trois nominations aux Gala Dynastie en 2022. Zach Zoya était l'un des trois artistes canadiens choisis pour l'initiative du Mois de l'histoire des Noirs 2022 de Soundcloud et son talent naturel a été recherché à la fois par NFL Canada et la Ligue canadienne de basketball élite pour des spectacles exclusifs et inauguraux à la mi-temps.
Zoya a passé l'été à interpréter les succès de son EP No Love Is Ever Wasted et Spectrum sur les scènes de festivals, y compris sa performance live dynamique à Osheaga, en tournée aux côtés de Charlotte Cardin, quatre fois lauréate d'un prix JUNO, et devant 10 000 fans enthousiastes dans sa ville natale à Rouyn Noranda.

Growing up in the small, largely French-speaking city of Rouyn-Noranda northwest of Montreal, Zach Zoya developed a diverse musical palate from his family. Introduced to African music by his south African father who fled to Canada during apartheid, and north American soul and pop music by his French-Canadian mother, Zoya was immersed in rhythms and melodies that spoke to him even when the English lyrics didn’t. though French was both Zoya’s first language and the one more established in the Montreal music scene, he’s rapped in English from the start of his career. raised without a computer or television in a place with minimal hip-hop culture, Zoya first honed his flows by covering records by Kendrick Lamar and drake, and credits learning the skill of rapping with improving his delivery as an all-around vocalist.
In 2019, he signed with Canada’s largest music company Universal Music Canada and began collaborating with some of the country’s biggest producers for his debut EP including GRAMMY Award winner Boi-1da, GRAMMY Award nominee DTRWRK, Latin GRAMMY Award nominees and Multi-Platinum producers Banx & Ranx, JUNO Award winner Matthew Burnett, Multi-Platinum producer Don Mills (J Cole, Giveon, Juice WRLD) and others. Zach Zoya was one of three Canadian artists chosen for Soundcloud’s 2022 Black History Month initiative and his natural talent was sought out by both NFL Canada and the Canadian Elite Basketball League for exclusive and inaugural halftime show performances.
Zoya spent the summer performing hits from his EPs No Love Is Ever Wasted and Spectrum on festival stages, including his dynamic live performance at Osheaga, on tour alongside four-time JUNO Award winner Charlotte Cardin, and in front of 10K enthusiastic fans at his hometown show in Rouyn Noranda.
