Montreal, April 26, 2025 – In an electrifying atmosphere, live from Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts, the 9th edition of the Gala Dynastie unfolded in grand style. This must-attend annual event, presented by TD Bank Group in collaboration with SODEC, shone a spotlight on the outstanding achievements of individuals from Quebec’s Black communities. Once again, the Gala Dynastie stood out as a premier event celebrating the impact of Black talent in Quebec’s artistic and media landscapes.
For the second year in a row, comedian Garihanna Jean-Louis hosted the evening. True to her reputation as a queen of comedy, she lit up the stage and captivated the audience with her bold, politically infused humor, adding her own personal touch to the evening’s highlights. Her vibrant presence and distinctive style perfectly embodied the festive and unifying spirit of the event.

As every year, the public had their say by voting for their favorite personality among the Gala Dynastie finalists. This year, it was Joepitz Dorsainvil who walked away with top honors.
In a warm and emotional atmosphere, the Fondation Dynastie had the honor of presenting this year’s prestigious Grand Prix Dynastie (Doudou Boicel Award) to Anthony Kavanagh, a true legend of comedy in Quebec. With his distinctive talent and boundary-pushing humor, Anthony has not only left a lasting mark on his era but also paved the way for a new generation of comedians. His commitment to breaking barriers—on stage and in society—embodies pride and resilience. The Grand Prix Dynastie thus recognizes a man whose influence reaches far beyond comedy, inspiring generations and helping shape today’s cultural landscape.
The 2025 Dynastie Impact Award was presented to Tai TL, an artist whose impressive journey continues to redefine the norms of contemporary creation. Constantly pushing boundaries, reinventing codes, and challenging perceptions, Tai TL offers endless inspiration to today's creative youth. This award highlights not only his exceptional talent but also the deep influence of his work on an entire generation of artists and creators. By awarding him the Prix Impact Dynastie 2025, the Fondation celebrates the boldness and vision of Tai TL—an authentic ambassador for creative youth and cultural transformation.
The Gala Dynastie also paid tribute to the legacy of Herby Moreau, the beloved TV host and cultural journalist who passed away in 2024. Nicknamed the "star hunter," Herby left a lasting impression on Quebec’s entertainment industry, famously interviewing top international celebrities at the Oscars, the Cannes Film Festival, and other high-profile events. His boldness and professionalism made him a standout media figure, capturing unforgettable moments and elevating the voices of artists with elegance and heart.
This heartfelt tribute featured a moving musical performance by his friend Jennifer Silencieux, with Herby Moreau’s family in attendance to share in the emotion.

The Gala Dynastie came alive with outstanding performances that celebrated the rich artistic expression of Quebec’s Black communities. Presented by the Conseil des arts de Montréal, the event captivated the audience with a dynamic, diverse program full of surprises and cultural brilliance.
The evening kicked off with a powerful performance by Cirque Kalabanté, blending jaw-dropping acrobatics with African traditions, setting the tone for a vibrant and festive night. Sajaa then took the audience on an intimate journey with her deep, soulful voice and mesmerizing fusion of jazz and soul. Next, Kizaba lit up the stage with his signature blend of electro and Afro-Congolese rhythms, delivering a high-energy set that radiated modernity and cultural pride.
The talented Jennifer Silencieux followed with an emotional and powerful return to the stage, leaving the audience deeply moved. And to top it all off, Haitian star J Perry brought the house down with his infectious mix of konpa, reggae, and zouk—a high-voltage finale that had the entire venue dancing.
