Festive Programming at Semaine Dynastie from April 20 TO 27, 2024‍

2/10/2024 11:55 AM

Montreal, February 9, 2024 – Fondation Dynastie is unveiling its captivating programming for Semaine Dynastie, which will take place at Place des Arts’ Salon urbain. This series of events is a not-to-be-missed meeting of the artistic, cultural, and media industries and is dedicated to artists, creators, professionals, entrepreneurs, and cultural actors from Black communities. Semaine Dynastie’s programming offers up a series of events full of networking, discussion, knowledge sharing, professional development, and artistic performances.

Under the theme of “Build your Dynastie,” each of these activities will provide an opportunity for culture and media personalities to meet with the public and share their visions, realities, and hopes—as well as challenges and issues.

Semaine Dynastie is presented by TD Bank Group in collaboration with SODEC, and Place des Arts will once again serve as the series’s official host.

"TD Bank Group, through the TD Ready Commitment, has been a proud supporter of the Gala Dynastie since its beginnings. In addition to giving visibility to artists and personalities from Quebec's Black communities, this event is a true catalyst of talent, offering a voice to those who are not always heard. And we firmly believe that it is by supporting such initiatives that we will succeed in building a better, more inclusive world, where everyone can reach their full potential."

Laurence Levy, Senior Vice-President, Branch Banking, Quebec Region, TD Canada Trust

Presented by Groupe 3737

April 20, 1 p.m. – Salon urbain

Hosted by Nicole Antoine

Brunch Dynastie will open the week’s festivities. The event will begin with an important discussion on the sustainability of federal funding for Black communities with the Chief Executive Officer of Groupe 3737, Louis-Edgar Jean-François.

Afterwards, guests will be invited to enjoy a unique culinary experience created by several renowned Africa- and Caribbean-influenced chefs, all within a lively musical atmosphere tailored for networking.

For this event, Fondation Dynastie will also be collaborating with Vegestation, a company led by urban farmer Stephan Senghor, to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a local market. In addition, to avoid waste, any unconsumed leftover food will be donated to Centre d’hébergement La Traverse. This institution serves as a safe place that provides adaptation and rehabilitation services aimed at facilitating integration and social participation among asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants in Montreal North who have no legal status or whose status is temporary or precarious.

This is a series of themed conversations on the state of the industry. It is a true space for exchange, and these frank, dynamic discussions address the primary challenges and issues specific to culture and media professionals and actors from Black communities. The series provides avenues for reflection and action to support the advancement of members of these industries.
